You can choose to study Chinese in Tengchong for 4 hours per day (20 hours/week) or 6 hours per day (30 hours/week). If you want to learn Chinese in China, the intensive immersion one-on-one course is the fastest way to improve your Chinese.

We use unique teaching methods developed by Keats. Your Chinese teacher(s) will prepare your lessons according to your level of Chinese and your learning goals to ensure that you learn the most Chinese in the shortest possible time.

Why learn Chinese in Tengchong?

There are many reasons why you should learn the Chinese language in China, especially in Tengchong.

Tengchong is a historical and cultural city located on the China-Myanmar border in the western part of Yunnan Province. It is famous for its border trade with Myanmar, as the famous hometown of overseas Chinese, and the main battlefield of the China-Myanmar-India War Zone during World War II. Speaking of Tengchong, people always think of jade, thermal springs, and border city. Compared with Lijiang and Dali, Tengchong is relatively less known, with simple locals and beautiful scenery. It is a border town like a paradise, and its attractions are relatively more concentrated, which is more convenient to visit.

How to Get to Tengchong?

Different types of transportation can be chosen when traveling to Tengchong to learn Chinese.

Tengchong is located in the southwest of Yunnan province. It is approximately 397 miles southwest of the provincial capital of Kunming.

The easiest way to get to Tengchong is by flying from Kunming. It only takes about an hour to get there. There is no high-speed train from Kunming to Tengchong, so taking the train is not an option.

Places to Visit in Tengchong – Ginkgo village

Tengchong Jiangdong Ginkgo Village is 18 miles south of Tengchong. It owns more than 3,000 ancient ginkgo trees, and there are more than 30,000 tree seedlings, which makes it a reputable village full of Ginkgo. This village is a seasonal touring attraction. You can only enjoy the beauty of the “golden world” here from the beginning of November to mid-December each year. This is also the best time to have an immersive Chinese learning experience here. It is also a gathering place for photography enthusiasts during this period.

Places to Visit in Tengchong – Northsea Wetland Park

Beihai Wetland Park is about 10 kilometers away from the county. This is the only national standard wetland reserve in Yunnan Province. Pastures, plank roads, surrounded by mountains this is the initial impression that most people have about Beihai Wetland Park. The diversity of the Beihai wetland ecosystem is unique. Mid-April is the most beautiful time of the year in Beihai.

Things To Do in Tengchong– Bath in the thermal spring

When visiting Tengchong, bathing in the thermal spring is a must-do thing on your sightseeing list. This is the only area in China where volcanoes and geothermal coexist, and there are many types of thermal springs. If you have chronic skin diseases, you can choose sulfur springs to enjoy a bath, for it’s helpful with improving it. Don’t worry if you have sensitive skin. A bicarbonate spring can let you enjoy a hot bath as well.

The Stir-fried Glutinous Rice cake is a must-try local dish in Tengchong. This is a dish cooked with glutinous rice cake. The cooking method is to cut the glutinous rice cake into small pieces, then add ham, eggs, meat, radish, and tomatoes into the pot and stir-fry them together.

Stir-fried Glutinous Rice cake is simple but delicious, easy to get the ingredients, and easy to cook. Therefore, it is prevalent for both local inhabitants and tourists.

Cuisine in Tengchong – Pea flour congee 稀豆粉 (Vegetarian Choice)

Pea flour congee in Tengchong is no less famous than rice noodles or rice cake. A small bowl of pea flour congee is unremarkable, but it is time-consuming to make. Firstly, the top-quality peas should be selected and put into a basin to soak for a day or overnight. Then they will be ground in a stone mill with water, filtered with a clean cloth, and boiled to become congee.

The way of having pea flour congee is also full of imagination. The red chili powders, bright yellow fresh ginger water, milky garlic sauce, and more than a dozen seasonings can be added according to different tastes. Pea flour congee can be eaten alone, or you can have it with other food to create a richer taste.
