Despite the various shapes of limestone formed due to millions of years of earth movement, the gorgeous Karst landform here integrates with the unique culture of the Sani People, hence making Stone Forest an attractive scenic area.

Day 3

Jianshui
Jianshui old town, Zhu Family Garden

What a beautiful ancient town!

Jianshui County  (建水县 Jianshui xian) is a division of Honghe Prefecture in Southeastern Yunnan. Although the county has its own name (it’s called Lin’an Town 临安镇), the name Jianshui is commonly used to refer to Lin’an as well. Since the Yuan Dynasty, Lin’an has been one of the most important cities of Yunnan, the center of Confucian learning and the veneration of Confucius. While the ancient city wall that used to surround the city was demolished in the 20th century (only its four gate towers remain standing), many historical sites remain in and around Lin’an, making it one of the top tourist destinations in the province. A pleasant city overall, Jianshui is an attractive stopping point between Kunming and Yuanyang.

Then, you can go to look around Jianshui’s old town. The Chaoyang Gate Tower (朝阳楼 Chaoyang Lou) is a scene you can’t miss. The preserved eastern gate of the Lin’an city wall is now standing in the middle of a traffic roundabout. For its architecture, it is nicknamed “the little Tian’anmen Gate.” A small museum/exhibition hall is housed inside the gate tower, which affords nice views of the old city.

Then you will go to visit the Zhu Family Garden. Constructed in Jianshui Old Town, Zhu Family Garden is famous as one of the most elaborate and grandest residential gardens in the south of Yunnan. Built-in the Qing Dynasty by the Zhu brothers, whose family was influential in the locality, the garden was completed in 30 years and was designed to include 42 courtyards. You will also explore other famous sites such as the Confucious Temple in Jianshui Ancient Town.

After lunch, you will experience potting in the largest pottery workroom of Jianshui County to gain a deep understanding of Jianshui culture.

Driving Time: After touring in Jianshui, you will head to Yuanyang, which takes 2.5 hours to drive.

Accommodation: Boutique Hotels

Meals: Breakfast included, lunch and dinner not included

Day 4

Jianshui - Yuanyang

Amazing landscapes

[Yuanyang Rice Terraces] Spanning around 1,300 years and covering a staggering 17,000 hectare, Yuanyang Rice Terraces, or called Yuanyang Terraced Fields, is the core area of Honghe Hani Rice Terraces, which listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2013.

The Keats driver and your Chinese teacher will take you to Duoyishu rice terrace by private car directly. When the sunlight shines from the clouds, the whole world looks so amazing that you can’t miss it.

Later on, your teacher will take you hiking to appreciate the scene of the Yuangyang rice terrace.

At dusk, your teacher will take you to watch and take photos of the sunset on the Bada (坝达) rice terrace.

This is why Puzhehei has been praised as “a unique pastoral scene in China.” The Puzhehei Scenic Area is famous for its six landscapes: the Water Pastoral, the Yi Family Water Town, the Lotus World, the Karst Wetland, the Lake Peaks and Forests, and the Migratory Bird Paradise.

Intensive One-on-One Chinese Classes

They really care about what our interests are, what questions we have, what requirements we have. Then they adjust our Chinese language program content according to the situations. One teacher and one student, so it is easy to keep your focus for the 6 hours of immersion Mandarin lessons. It is very convenient to study, live and eat in one building.

Intensive One-on-One Chinese Classes

I can’t tell you how much I liked it. The thing I liked about the teachers and the teaching method is that there is so much flexibility. The other thing I liked about the teaching is the combination of classic textbook learning and going outside. I loved it! I like getting to know other students. Everybody shared the same goal and that’s making their Chinese better. Kunming is a big city, but it is very safe to live here. Another thing I liked about Keats is the idea that people here help you. I can’t recommend it enough. I think it was a valuable experience. Looking forward to coming back!

Intensive One-on-One Chinese Classes

At Keats, I have a lot of opportunities to practice what I have learned. I really like this school, because I can learn Chinese in one-on-one style, so I think this is the best immersion program in China and my teacher is the best teacher. I feel that without my teacher, my Chinese will definitely not improve so much. I’m very happy because, at Keats, I have improved my Chinese significantly.

Small Group Chinese Class

I really enjoy coming here because it is like kind of a home for me. It is a great environment to learn Mandarin Chinese in China and meet great people from all over the world. Everyone here is extremely friendly. Kunming has a really nice climate. It is a very good mix of the modern city and also a lot of historic Chinese culture. Probably got the cleanest air in China and possibly the cleanest water too. I invite you to come to study Chinese in Kunming.

Intensive One-on-One Chinese Classes

I have been to Keats School to learn Chinese for 4 times now. The reason for coming back to this school is pretty much that the teachers I did work with were very good Chinese teachers. I make it a 5-year plan or even a 10-year plan to come back to this school.  All the teachers have methods of looking at what your skills are. They are aware of at what level you are. I think it is worth for everyone.
