Tour along the Festival Street

Spending a Spring Festival in China is the best way to get to know Chinese culture. During the Spring Festival, you can take part in many fun traditional activities, such as the temple fair and the festival street. Along the festival street, you will see many vendors selling all interesting things and delicious food. The selling activities last about one month. From one week before the Spring Festival, people can buy anything they need for the holiday on this street. Particularly, farmers bring bacon they prepare at home; business men display all kinds of commercials on the exhibition booth. The street is full of large crowds of people because the goods there are cheap and affordable. Therefore, we will definitely take our students to the street to feel the festival atmosphere.

After Ms. Ma learned that there is a festival street at the back of Kunming Sports Stadium, she told her student, who got very interested in taking a look. As a result, Ms. Ma took her student to the festival street and they had an outdoor lesson. They took No. 5 bus from the downstairs of the school and the bus took them directly to the Kunming Sports Stadium. Ms. Ma introduced the special ways of local cooking using materials like bacon, nuts, cakes, and mushrooms. While taking pictures and tasting all kinds of food, they were overwhelmed by the amazing and fresh food. Ms. Ma and her student spent a special day and it greatly helped the student to learn Chinese while immersed in its culture. The student found the festival street to be very interesting and he would share his story and bring other students to take a look.

Intensive One-on-One Chinese Classes

My name is Sarah Fish. I am 81. I knew very little Chinese when I arrived. How was I going to survive 2 weeks of intensive Chinese course? I have to laugh when I think of that now. What a positive experience this has been! I really wish we could be here a little longer. The teachers are extremely encouraging, evaluating first how much someone knows, and then starting from there.

The place is very cool. I am with a great group of people in my class, so coming to classes is very enjoyable. It is fun, we have a lot of discussions, games, activities. Our teachers are also very good, very supportive. Learning Chinese is intimidating at the start because you have so many questions. But I would advise coming to Keats because the atmosphere for learning is great. It is very relaxing. I would recommend the school.

Intensive One-on-One Chinese Classes

So during my first week at Keats, I didn’t dare to speak any Chinese words. I found out that my Chinese level quickly improved since then. Although I have many options to study in China, for example, some other schools have homestay, I found I could immerse myself and fully focus on learning Chinese by staying at Keats.

The teachers at Keats know how to read the students and how to help students learn Chinese language easily. They know the level of the students. I am a slow learner, but they managed to adapt to my learning. They made the class very fun, very exciting. I am pleased that not only I got to learn the culture and the language, but I also got to make amazing friends, really unbelievable, Chinese friends and European friends, American friends, from all over the world.

Intensive One-on-One Chinese Classes

I decided to learn Chinese in Kunming because I like smaller cities and I like the climate here. We had four hours a day study here and my dear teacher taught me very much and never lost her patience with me. It was a really wonderful experience to be here and I recommend Keats school and the teachers here to everyone who likes to learn Chinese in China.

Intensive One-on-One Chinese Classes

The best part of the school is the patience the instructors had and the time to focus on the fundamentals like pronunciation. I think it is very easy to skip over those and go to vocabulary. But by learning the pronunciation, I feel like it helped me gain a better understanding of the language.
