Places to go During the Weekend – Stone Forest

As the four seasons in Kunming are all like spring, many tourists are attracted here. On top of that, there are many unique scenic spots that are must see places for tourists. We recommend that all students who are studying Chinese at Keats use the weekend to go see the Stone Forest. We are certain that this unique scenery will leave a lasting impression on everyone who goes.

Recently, many of our students have chosen to go to there, some going with small groups of other students, some going with their children. Most students leave on Saturday, which we recommend, we also recommend students leave at 9 in the morning. Take a taxi to the Kunming Eastern Bus Terminal, then from there take a bus to the Stone Forest, from our school to the Stone Forest, it takes about two and a half hours. After you arrive, buy a ticket and enter the park. As the Stone Forest is rather large, we also recommend that you take a scenic van to go around the park. It normally takes about three or four hours to see all of the forest. Inside the stone forest, there are a lot of interesting places, such as a stone that looks like a lotus, a small part of the forest where the stones look like swords, and there are a lot of stones that will make you think of a huge variety of objects. Every little while, you will find that the scenery changes, and you will be unable to resist saying, “Amazing! Weird!” Some young students like to walk on the small paths that crisscross the Stone Forest, but we remind you that to avoid getting lost, you take the main tourist path. When it becomes noon, although there is a cafeteria, we don’t recommend eating there, as the prices are rather expensive, so bring your own food instead. When it gets to around 3 or 3:30 in the afternoon, you will have about finished up, and can take a bus back to Kunming.

After going to the Stone Forest, all of our students endlessly praised the strange and beautiful scenery, and all think it is really worth seeing. Also, there is a famous story related to the Stone Forest, if you want to know, we will be happy to tell you it.

I really enjoy this place because we have private Mandarin lessons. I took the 6-hour program, 4 hours in the morning, 2 in the afternoon. Even though it is quite a lot, the teaching is complimentary. This is very helpful because I could review what I did before and learn new things. My 2 teachers are fantastic.
