Let’s Feed the Seagulls

There are many places in Kunming that attract tourists from all over the world. Kunming also attracts a group of special guests – seagulls each year, because Kunming is richly endowed by nature and climate. Around 30 years ago, the first group of seagulls from Siberia flew to Kunming in winter and found Kunming to be such a warm place and thus they were reluctant to leave. Since then, seagulls from Siberia spend their winter in Kunming every November. Admiring the seagulls and feeding them have become a kind of welfare to many Kunmingnese. There are several famous seagull gathering places in Kunming. They are the Green Lake located in the city center of Kunming, Daguan Park and Minority Village in the west, and the Dianchi Lake.

Students who learn Chinese in China in the northern part are jealous of students in Kunming because they will not be bothered by the severe cold. By contrast, they can enjoy the beautiful sunshine almost every day in Kunming while they play with the seagulls.

The Dianchi Lake is one of the popular places for outdoor lessons at Keats during the winter. Ms. Yi Lan chose to spend the last day’s lesson at the Dianchi Lake as a gift to her student. Ms. Yi Lan told us that her student studied very hard and learned many Chinese characters in a short time. She was very happy to see the progress her student made in such a short time. Ms. Yi Lan’s student would fly to Beijing on the second day and he was very upset that he would leave Kunming. Ms. Yi Lan took her student to the Dianchi Lake to feel the warm winter before he got hit by the cold weather in Beijing.

The student was very excited to see the seagulls flying back and forth on the lake. Ms. Yi Lan bought some bread for the seagulls and fed them together with her students. After that, they walked along the bank of the lake and appreciated the beauty of the Western Hills. Ms. Yi Lan spent a very special and unforgettable day with her student, who told us that he could come to study at Keats again in the future. There are many interesting places in Kunming, which create many outdoor learning opportunities for Keats students to feel Chinese culture. After we shared Ms. Yi Lan’s outdoor lesson with other students, we received lots of interests in spending a wonderful and relaxed afternoon at the Dianchi Lake with the students and the teachers. It is very convenient to come to Kunming from Thailand. I really like my Chinese class and my Chinese improved a lot in a few months. There are many benefits of learning Chinese. The best thing I like about Keats is that it is in Kunming, a city with eternal spring. There is so much to see in Kunming and you will love this city after you come.

I’ve been at Keats school and Kunming now for one month doing the one-on-one Chinese lessons with two different teachers. I really enjoy it. Both of my teachers are very friendly and patient. They really helped me to improve my Chinese, both of my reading and speaking. I really enjoy studying Chinese in Kunming as well. This city is really beautiful and the weather is nice, the air is clean. It’s one of the best cities in China to study Chinese.

Intensive One-on-One Chinese Classes

It has been notable because I have met a lot of people who I met first time last year like me to come back to Keats this year. The teaching has been fantastic. The teachers carefully prepare each lesson. I think this one-on-one approach is really a great way to rapidly increase your level of Chinese and increase your confidence and fluency with the language.

Intensive One-on-One Chinese Classes

In the one-to-one intensive Chinese course, you can choose the learning method you like. The small group Chinese class in China at Keats follows the HSK textbook. Teachers often collect feedback from the students, teachers listen to our requirements and opinions. I felt that my oral level is better than before .

I have 2 teachers, and I do 4 hours a day. So I have got Dong Laoshi and Jin Laoshi. Both of them are very good. They made the experience very nice to me. They are willing to help you whenever, so if you ever have a question here, the teachers are always there to help you whether it is visas, whether it is getting around the city. Everyone wants to talk to you.

I think Kunming is a great city, the weather is really good. I really like Keats school and found it is very organized. The teachers here are very good. They have a coffee shop and new classrooms, a new lounge area here now, so you can chill out with your friends and practice your spoken Chinese with natives. If you’re considering coming to Keats to study, I would really recommend it. It’s the best place to learn Mandarin and I think it will be a great experience for you.

Before I came to Keats School, I had no confidence in my Chinese proficiency. I did not have the confidence to speak Mandarin Chinese and chat with Chinese people. However, after 4 months of study at Keats, I become more and more confident in speaking Chinese now. Studying Chinese in China at Keats School has been the best decision I have ever made. There are many games in the class, and my teacher’s teaching methods are also very interesting. My experience at Keats School has changed my view of China and Chinese people.
