Good News: Keats School Got Awarded by the Government

On September 10th 2014, Kunming Government Panlong District held its annual award ceremony for excellent schools and excellent teachers. All the winners received the awards because they made special contribution to the education field and have a steady progress in the teaching quality. In this year’s award list, there are only five private non-degree schools while Keats School is the only school offering Mandarin Chinese courses to foreign students.

At the award ceremony, the education department head of the Panlong district gave a speech to all award winners and passed his sincere wishes for their future career. After the ceremony, the officer Ms. Lu from the language education sector had a private talk with us. She mentioned that Keats School impressed her most because of the special teaching methods developed by Keats School and its distinctive advantages compared to the universities. When Ms. Lu came to check Keats School’s operation, she surprisingly found that a lot of Keats students could talk to her in Chinese freely while the students in the other schools can’t even they have learned Chinese for many years. She encouraged us to continue working hard in finding the most efficient teaching methods for the students to learn Chinese.

The teaching supervisor of Keats School Ms. Margie Ma received an award of “Excellent Teacher of the Year”. After two years of intensive research in the HSK, Margie has built a strong and scientific system for students to pass the HSK test. So far, many students have passed the HSK 3, 4, and 5 with high scores using the system Margie developed. Margie mentioned in her acceptance speech that she is grateful to have a platform like Keats School to show her talent and help her students. She hopes to help the school move forward with more achievements in the HSK test.

The awards that Keats School received this year made us more confident in the area of teaching Chinese language and the culture. As China develops so fast with so many business/working opportunities, being able to speak Chinese has become a must-have skill. Keats School is devoted to helping you learn Chinese fast and efficient in the shortest possible time. If you want to learn Chinese in China , we are always here in Kunming welcoming you to join us.

Intensive One-on-One Chinese Classes

My name is Sarah Fish. I am 81. I knew very little Chinese when I arrived. How was I going to survive 2 weeks of intensive Chinese course? I have to laugh when I think of that now. What a positive experience this has been! I really wish we could be here a little longer. The teachers are extremely encouraging, evaluating first how much someone knows, and then starting from there.

Small Group Chinese Class

Since last semester, we started studying Chinese at Keats. It was the best choice we can ever make. It is a really good school. The classes are a lot of fun, you learn a lot, but very interactive, so you talk a lot which means it is not just books and writing. Kunming is a really pleasant city to live in, especially if you compare it to other cities in the east. If you like to travel, if you like to study Chinese in a fun way, Keats has the best Chinese language program for you.

Intensive One-on-One Chinese Classes

One thing I really liked was that I was able to work with my teacher to make an individual plan of study. Another really nice thing is that you live at the school, you feel completely safe.  You always have a group of people who are willing to do things with you on the weekends or in the evenings. They are serving you all the 3 meals a day, the food was excellent.

Intensive One-on-One Chinese Classes

It has been notable because I have met a lot of people who I met first time last year like me to come back to Keats this year. The teaching has been fantastic. The teachers carefully prepare each lesson. I think this one-on-one approach is really a great way to rapidly increase your level of Chinese and increase your confidence and fluency with the language.

I’ve had an amazing time at Keats. I am amazed at how much I’ve learned over the last 3 weeks and I will be really sad to go. We are already planning on our next trip of coming back because we had such a fantastic time here. They really tailor the Chinese language course to you and your individual needs.

Intensive One-on-One Chinese Classes

I have been to Keats School to learn Chinese for 4 times now. The reason for coming back to this school is pretty much that the teachers I did work with were very good Chinese teachers. I make it a 5-year plan or even a 10-year plan to come back to this school.  All the teachers have methods of looking at what your skills are. They are aware of at what level you are. I think it is worth for everyone.

I really enjoy this place because we have private Mandarin lessons. I took the 6-hour program, 4 hours in the morning, 2 in the afternoon. Even though it is quite a lot, the teaching is complimentary. This is very helpful because I could review what I did before and learn new things. My 2 teachers are fantastic. We live in the school, so it is convenient. It is interesting to me to meet people from all over the world.

I am a graduate student working on my doctorate degree at Columbia University. We were able to really focus on speaking especially interview-style speaking and we are able to really up my Chinese reading and writing skills, so when I go back to Columbia, I can take formal Chinese classes. It has been a really good experience and I really love my teacher.
