Last Friday, we held our big semi-annual Keats Event – Luncheon at O’Reilly’s Irish Pub. We have invited over 100 students to attend the luncheon and 81 Keats students attended the event. This event was a mix of free lunch and interesting games and shows. We have prepared plenty of free gifts for all the guests.
The luncheon started at 11:15am and our guests began arriving from 10:30am. Each guest received a free school bag packaged with a phrase book written by Keats School, a note book, a pen, a voucher for tuition fee, and a bottle of water at the entrance. Keats staff put on name tags with numbers for our guests. The numbers were for lottery at the end of the luncheon. We chose a luckiest student who could study at Keats for one semester for absolutely free. After the reception, the guests were invited to put their signature on Keats School’s screen and take a memorable picture.
The luncheon officially started at 11:15am with a welcome speech from the hosts Mandy Liu and Margie Ma. Before we got to eat the delicious chili burgers, we firstly played a game called “Pop Quiz” to help the guests warm up and get to know each other. The guests were divided into seven groups and each group needed to answer the question if it was their turn. If the group could not answer the question, the chance would move to the next group. After several competitive rounds, Group 6 finally won the game and each group member received a pack of Chinese chess as a reward. After the interesting game, Joy, the president of Keats School presents a class demo for all the guests. She taught several useful Chinese expressions with the shows performed by Keats teachers. The laughter was full of the pub and some students even took out the notebook to write them down. Then we invited some Keats students to share their study experience at Keats School. While we waited for the chili burgers to be served, Mandy played the traditional Chinese musical instrument for all the guests.
After lunch, we started the most exciting part of the event which was to find out who could study at Keats for free next semester. We invited Tim, the owner and manager of O’Reilly’s Irish Pub, to pick the lucky student from a bag of number cards. We were very excited to find out that DaBenDan from Australia won the lottery and we expressed our great congratulations to him.
After the lottery, we have also prepared two fantastic games for our guests. The first one was to imitate a famous person without describing it by words. The audience needed to guess whom was being imitated. We invited several students to come up to the stage. The acting impressed us a lot. The guests really enjoyed the acting which brought them lots of laughter and fun. Right after this game, we started a singing competition. The guests were divided by the nations they come from. Each group needed to sing a song in their mother language based on the topic assigned to each round. The French team finally won the game. The semi-annual Keats event ended successfully with the smile of each guest’s face. Thanks to all the guests who attended the luncheon, we spent great time together and enjoyed a fabulous lunch and made tons of new friends. We look forward to next big Keats event.
