A New Equipment to Help Learn Chinese

In order to help all students to learn Chinese better and have more opportunity to immerse in a Chinese environment, Keats bought a TV and put in our cafeteria. There are not only TVs in each room, but also a TV in public area. Besides learn Chinese at school and practice with Chinese friends, our students will watch Chinese programs and learn more daily Chinese when they have meals.

Day by day, our students will find out they actually learn something from the TV in our Cafeteria. We will choose the popular Chinese channels and programs for students and during the weekends, we can sit down and share a Chinese movie together.

Our students will definitely get benefits from this new equipment, and our teacher will get benefit as well. When we have teachers meeting before, we could only use a laptop to show and share, sometimes it was too small to see clearly. Now we can use the 50’’ TV to show more teaching program. And it will make our meeting more interesting.

This is my second time coming. Last year, I also came for about 12 weeks. This time I came for 13 weeks of a summer program in China. I have been to Keats School to learn Chinese for 4 times now. The reason for coming back to this school is pretty much that the teachers I did work with were very good Chinese teachers. I think the Chinese learning environment here is great. The teaching methods are also very interactive and fun. What I particularly enjoy here is the fact that my teacher does not stick to the textbook. We spend a lot of time discussing general topics, such as Chinese culture, world news, typical expressions used by local people. We also discuss social and economic topics.
