Golden Hairpin Bay is located in the site one kilometer away from Golden Hairpin Village in Majie Town of Malipo County in Wenshan Prefecture of Yunnan province. When you reach there, you can see the limestone cliff with the height of about 500 meters and the diameter of 300 meters. When stepping into it, you can see a cave in the right side which is about 200 meters high above the ground. There are also two holes in the top of the cave with two pipes, the left one is the silver gray and the right one is golden color, hence the name Golden Hairpin Bay.

The Golden Hairpin Bay is in the area of Wenshan, most of which belongs to the area with the subtropical plateau monsoon climate. Many foreign students have been there during the process when they study in Chinese learning programs in the city of Kunming. According to them, the climate there is favorable. Since the low river valley in the south area and the east area belongs to tropical climate, the average temperature is between 15.5 Celsius degree and 19.3 Celsius degree.

The most important thing you need notice is to bring rain gear and also two or more coats which can be helpful in the morning and at night in case of the weather changes.

Around the Golden Hairpin Bay, you can also see a temple surrounded by lake water. This temple is built in the central of a small island which is surrounded by water in four directions. The stone bridge to go to this temple is in the north corner. It was said that this temple was constructed in Ming Dynasty. You can also see some records on the stone tablet set up in the ancient times. The water surface under the temple is wide and the water is clear all the year around.

Of course, the foreign students who learn Chinese in the city of Kunming are suggested to visit there also because of the delicious local foods such as cakes with spiced salt, rice noodles and fried cakes and so on. One thing you should taste is the white wine brewed by the local people with grains. Zhuang people often treat guests with this kind of white wine.
