The opening ceremony of the second session of Beijing International Film Festival was held on April 23rd, during which multiple sectors of activity has started. Just as some of the foreign students who study in intensive Chinese language courses in China know, 260 excellent films from 54 countries and regions in the world appeared in the film festival since 21st and screened in Beijing Screening unit. On 22nd, the movie fans in Beijing and the famous filmmakers from home and abroad jointly started the film festival activities lasting for seven days.
Beijing Screening is one of the core activities in Beijing International Films Festival which fully indicate the principle of multi cultural exchange. Among the total 900 films presented by the filmmakers and filming companies, 260 excellent films were selected for screening. During this period, more than 500 screenings were arranged by 20 commercial cinemas in Beijing with the ticket price of ten to twenty Yuan, satisfying the watching demands of the general audiences.
At the same time, the organizing committee also provided the special places of Beijing Screening for those foreign guests who had the intention to purchase Chinese-made films. If the foreigners who take Mandarin language courses in China are interested in Chinese films, they must have known that the films screened in the festival include the films carry off prizes in Oscar, Berlin Film Festival as well as other famous international film festival.
Of course, the representative films with the local characteristics in the global field were also screened. Besides, some excellent Chinese films in recent years are also included. The Film Carnival activity is one new added main activity in this session of Beijing International Film Festival. The obvious feature of this activity is to widely mobilize the general public to close to films and join in films.
