On March 9th, the opening ceremony of the 20th session of WOMADlaide art festival was held in the botanical garden of Adelaide city. With the invitation of organizing committee, the Chinese Ministry of Culture sent Mongolia band Anda Group to attend to the performance of the art festival of Australia Chinese culture Year. A piece of news comes from those who study in intensive Mandarin course in China that a work visit was held on the day of the opening ceremony. During the process, the Chinese ambassador to Australia Embassy Counselor for Culture made a special trip to watch the performance.

There are totally tem members in the Anda Group, all of whom wore the ethnic costumes. Sometimes, they played traditional Mongolian sings and songs with the traditional musical instruments horse head string instrument and Chaoer. Sometimes, they sang the Mongolia long tune with sonorous voice. The beautiful melody resounded on the stage. Several hundreds of spectators who were sitting on the grass were immersed in the unique beautiful Mongolian music.

After that, Anda Group performed the special singing technique of Mongolian named “khoomei”. The singing way was so unique that all spectators were attracted. They won great applause because of their extraordinary performance. When you come to learn to speak Chinese in Chinese school, teachers would tell you that the audiences were invited to the stage to learn the so-called “khoomei”. They all learned it devotedly and the humorous teaching ways aroused much laughter from the audiences.

In order to make sure the audience could understand their musical instruments, the members of Anda Group introduced their instruments respectively in English. Besides, they used the horse head string instrument to imitate different types of horse crying. Finally, the performance ended up with the exciting program named “ten thousand horses stampeding”. The audiences waved with the rhythm of the music. After the performance, many audiences came to the stage to congratulate and thank the performers as well as take photos.

In addition, the counselor Keyasha spoke highly of the performance and held the opinion that such kind of interesting show was proper to create the harmonious atmosphere. Some of the foreigners who learn Chinese online free said that it was impressive because the performers can interact with the audiences, brining new idea to the traditional folk music. As the largest scale of the WOMAD art festival, the WOMADlaide lasted for four days, attracting 90 thousand people.
