On the day of May 18th, the unveiling ceremony of the 5A national scenic area Prince Gong Mansion was held in Beijing. It was also the award ceremony of the 2nd Prince Gong Mansion cultural tourism souvenir design competition. During the period of learning in summer program in China, many foreign students have visited the mansion in Beijing. It was reported that the Prince Gong Mansion was officially granted as the 5A national level scenic area by the National Tourism Administration in the beginning of this year.
It is the seventh 5A level national scenic area in Beijing city and the first one in the western city area. The Prince Gong Palace is one well-preserved and the only one mansion that opens to the general public. Therefore, it is a lucky thing for those foreigners to visit the palace. As early as in the year of 1988, the Prince Gong Palace was approved as the 2A level scenic spot after the garden was opened to the public.
When it came to 2008, just before the whole mansion was opened to the public, the Prince Gong Palace was promoted as a 4A national attraction. Since then, the palace has been making efforts to build it into a 5A level tourist attraction. Much importance was paid to improve the overall service quality and management ability. This scenic spot was also positioned as the museum of historical sites, the comprehensive cultural exhibition space and the industrial platform of the overall development of culture and tourism industry.
Of course, you may hear that the Prince Gong Mansion also focused on “improving five main functions and building four name cards”. It was said that the total fund of more than ten million Yuan was invested to improve the surrounding environment and service equipments in the palace as well as promote the service quality. In addition, since the second session design competition was started from June 23rd in 2011, a total competition works of more than 350 pieces were received. After strict assessment of experts, 58 awards were selected finally, among which there are two golden awards, 12 silver awards and 25 creativity awards and 14 excellence awards and 5 organizing awards.
