Xiangguo Temple is located in the west district on Ziyou Road in the center of Kaifeng city. It is one of the famous Buddha temples in China and many people like to travel there in the spare time during which they can worship the gods and pray for good fortune. Xiangguo Temple is of long history and is one of the famous Buddha centers in China. The spot was the residence of Prince Xinlingjun in ancient time. In year 555, the emperor of Northern Qi Dynasty built the temple and called it Jianguo Temple. However, the time period witnessed many wars. Thus, the temple suffered from damage during the war time. In year 701, a monk named Huiyun said the spot was of anima and should contribute money to build a temple there. When the project was under construction, the board of the Jianguo Temple came before the sights of people. In year 712, Emperor Li Dan named the temple as Xiangguo Temple and he wrote the name of the plaque by himself.

The square of the temple is of large size and it can hold thousands of people. Before Ming Dynasty, there were many precious articles in the temple. The original handwriting of Su Shi existed in the temple. Thus, the temple was really a treasury of art and culture. The temple was also the spot of many classic stories. The scale of the rebuilding of the temple in Qing Dynasty was larger than that of in Tang and Song Dynasty. The structure and layout of the temple was preserved till now.

There are many beautiful types of scenery in the temple. Many foreign people who learn Chinese in China like to walk on the corridors in the old temple. The Luohan hall stands in the middle of the temple. There are 12 statues of bronze Buddha of different postures. The huge bell in the temple is 4 meters high and the weight is more than thousands of jin. The bell was built in year 1768 and was famous for the sound when people hit the bell.
