The 3rd Chinese Paper-cut Art Festival Opened in Weixian County

The third session of China paper-cut art festival and the second session of Weizhou international paper-cut art festival were held in Weixian County in Hebri Province, which is called the hometown of China paper-cut art. At the opening ceremony, more than 1600 paper-cut artists, experts, scholars, international friends from eight different countries as well as the domestic guests from 28 provinces, cities and autonomous regions and also the Xinjiang Construction Regiments gathered together in Weixian County to celebrate this art festival.

This session of paper-cut art festival was jointly held by Chinese Federation of Literary and Art Circles, China Society for the Study of Folk Literature and Art, The propaganda department of Hebei provincial committee of the communist party of China, Hebei Province art and literature federation, the cultural department of Hebei province and Zhangjiakou municipal Government. Some of the foreign students who come to learn Mandarin in China might be told that the main purpose of holding this festival is to expand the influence of the world intangible heritages of China at home and abroad.

At the opening ceremony of the paper-cut art festival, Weixian People’s Government presented the paper-cut portrayal to the later generations of the republic marshals. The cultural department of Hebei province issued the certification of paper-cut art creativity award to the artists Li Min. In addition, the master of the paper-cut art Gao Dianliang awarded the graduation certification of paper-cut handicraft learning in Weixian County. Weixian County aims at building it into the largest paper-cut inheritance and protecting, research and producing as well as selling base in both domestic and international areas.

When 200 young students read the evaluation words that the Chinese paper-cut art was listed in human intangible cultural heritage list of masterpiece, it won a series of warm applause. Some of the foreign students chose it as the place to learn Chinese might because of the interest in the paper-cut art. The large ethnic customs performance showed in the opening ceremony also has unique local characteristics, attracting all of the audiences.

The paper-cut art festival lasted for three days, during which the fine Chinese paper-art works at home and abroad were exhibited. In addition, the excellent words were awarded the golden, silver and bronze prizes. It is said that Chinese paper-cut art festival is Chinese paper-cut industry feast and festival with the highest level in China.
