On the evening of April 28th, the opening ceremony of the 29th session of Shanghai Spring International Music Festival was held in Shanghai Grand Theater. During this period, the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra which has a long history performed four excellent works which were initially performed in Spring of Shanghai and won prizes in national field since the 80th of the last century. The four works are famous piano concerto Mountain Forest of Liu Guonan, the first violin concerto of Chen Qingbin, the second erhu rhapsody of Wang Jianmin and China—My Adorable Mother, the musical lyric poetry of Lu Zaiyi,

According to the report, this session of Spring of Shanghai will last to May 18th, during which the performing groups and artists from more than ten countries were attracted such as China, the United States, France, Portugal, Russia, Armenia, Scotland, Japan, Cuba, Potland, Trinidad and Tobago. Some foreigners who love music were also attracted to this festival, including the students come to study in Chinese school in China. They said that 41 dances and pieces of music were presented by the arts.

In addition, three more professional competitions and wind music art festival and other activities will be held. Carrying the purpose of “promoting new works of new artists and developing the original and local creation”, this session of Spring of Shanghai showed as many as 20 original works and new artists’ performances, accounting for one half of the program list.
