Picasso Exhibition Public Day Launched in Chengdu

On March 31st, 2012 Picasso Exhibition in China Public Open Day was launched in Chengdu Contemporary Museum officially. Some of the foreign students who attend to school to study Mandarin may be told that it meant the collections from France Picasso Museum would be showed to the public from that day on. It is understood that this activity was jointly hosted by Chengdu Contemporary Museum and France Picasso National Museum with the lead of Chinese People‘s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, Department of Culture of Sichuan Province, Sichuan Arts Association and Chengdu Municipal Cultural Affairs Bureau. On the site of the meeting, the reporters saw the activity with the theme of “green land of the world, Picasso of the world” promoted the opening day ceremony to the climax. At the same time, the large non-commercial youth arts outreach activity with the theme of “Picasso—the cradle of art” also started.

This youth activity will hold four activities in April, during which the famous people from home and abroad will be invited to be the guide of the children. According to the introduction of the sponsor, those who learn Chinese online free may know 56 original Picasso’s works and 50 photographing works were displayed in this Picasso exhibition, fully presenting the development of Picasso’s life of art. In addition, all the exhibits were the public collections of Picasso Museum on France, with a total value of more than six hundred million EUR.

The works exhibited covered the works of Picasso in different periods such as Blue Period, Pink Period, Cubism, Neoclassicism and Surrealism. At the same time, the exhibition set up new exhibition hall for displaying 18 works of Sichuan Embroidery authorized by the descendants of Zhang Daqian. As we all know, Picasso is recognized as the most reputable artist of the 20th century in the world, and also the first one who lived to see his works were collected in Louvre.
