Just several days ago, the landscape oil painting exhibition of Liu Xiao named Russia in the “Eye of a Chinese painter” was held in Russia Cultural Center in Beijing. When you study in Chinese language school in China, you may know that it is one of the important activities in China’s Russia Tourism Year. On the opening ceremony, Tao Miheng, the Russia Embassy Minister to China said that the painting works of Liu Xiao present many beautiful landscapes that the Russian do not know and it is the right time to hold this paintings exhibition in this special occasion.
Ho hoped that this paintings exhibition would enhance Chinese audiences’ interest in tourism in Russia so that more Chinese artists go to Russia to collect materials and create. At present, Liu Xiao is the researchers of Xu Beihong Art Institute in Renmin University of China as well as a professional painter. During the period from 1999 to 2002, he studied abroad in famous Russia St Petersburg Repin Arts Academy, learning from Professor Melnikov and Professor Bimainuofu, the Russia realism painters.
During this period, he left Saint Petersburg for 20 times to collect the panting scenes, travelling more than 20, 000 kilometers, spreading more than 100 cities in 15 states in the western Russia. Some of the foreign students who study Mandarin online said that there were 30 landascape paintings of Liu Xiao exhibited, including Ode to Russia, Bell of Volga River, Late Autumn in Far East and so on. At the same times, 18 photographs selected from thousands of photos taken in Russia by him were also displayed, vividly displaying the magnificent scenery in Russia.
Facing more that 150 representatives attended to the opening ceremony, Liu Xiao said that those exhibits presented are filled with his deep love attached to the vast Russia and sincere love to the cultural art in Russia. He expressed his hope that the exhibition would become the festival of eyes and soul of both audiences from China and Russia.
This exhibition was jointly held by the relevant departments from China and Russia like Sino-Russian Friendship Association, Russia Embassy and Beijing Russia Culture Center and so on. When you come to study Chinese in China, you should know that more than 200 activities with rich contents were held during the Tourism Year, aiming at deepening tourism cooperation and enhancing understanding and friendship between the peoples of both countries.
