He Ping Square in located in the center of the park and is the most beautiful place in the garden, he theme of which is about the peace. It is composed of the principle axis from the east to the west as well as the main three scenic spots. Many overseas students have ever visited there during the process when they study in Mandarin language courses in China. They said that the total length in the eastern main entrance is about 40 meters.
The He Ping Gate in the main entrance with the height of 14 meters was constructed imitating the Constantine Arch of Triumph in Europe, symbolizing people’s hope of making efforts to seek for peace and coming back with victory. After you enter the garden, you will pass through the front square, and then you will see the road of light made up of slab, with the width of 20 meters and the length of 130 meters. The corridor is made up of 55 columns in both sides of the road, indicating the 55th anniversary of the National Day.
In the end of the corridor, you can see a temple constructed for the purpose of performing in the opening ceremony. With the diameter of 60 meters, it imitates the temple for emperors to sacrifice the heaven in the Temple of Heaven Garden in Beijing. Another attracting scene is the tower in the west of the garden, covering the total area of 5600 square meters. It imitates the style of the cathedral in Iceland, with the diameter of 84 meters. The foundation bed of three stories is as high as 3.6 meters, supporting the tower of 46 meters.
The tower is applied to receive the honored guests when the large scale ceremony is held, making it the center of the whole garden. Some of the students who have come to study in China for a long time might have heard that it is also the highest ice architecture in Harbin in the history. The area between the tower and the temple is the He Ping Square with the area of 7200 square meters, being used for holding the opening ceremony of certain activities. There is an ice sculpture group in the north of the square named He Ping. The center of the main scenery is the peace dove, implying the theme of peace. The west of the tower is a decorated archway of 100 meters long.
