Art Exhibition of Wang Weizheng

The art exhibition of Wang Weizheng was co-hosted by the Chinese Artist Association, the Chinese People‘s Political Consultative Conference Calligraphy and Painting Office, Beijing Artist Association and Beijing Painting Academy. Zheng Wantong and Wang Zhizhen, vice chairmen of the CPPCC national committee, Yang Zhijin, vice minister of Culture Ministry, Chen Jinyu, director of the state council, Feng Yuan, vice president of China Federation of Literary and Art Circle, Wu Changjiang, vice president of Chinese Artist Association and Wang Mingming, deputy director of Office of the Counselors of the State Council were present at the opening ceremony of the exhibition.

The exhibition mainly presented the artist achievement of the great painter Wang Weizheng. The exhibition included the early works and some recent series of works which depicted the cultural elites in China. The works made the people appreciate the features and characteristics of the creator in different time periods with various artistic methods. The different themes of the works were impressive. The beautiful poems which were with the paintings were another watching focus of the exhibition. According to some visitors who came to the exhibition, the works of the great painter were really impressive. Some foreign visitors interviewed said the paintings of the creators made them know something about the Chinese culture and they thought it was good to study Chinese in China since they could go there to learn more about Chinese culture.

Wang Weizheng was the representative of the National People‘s Congress and the national first-class artist of Beijing Painting Academy. He studied sketch from Shang Lianbi from his childhood. He graduated from school of fine arts of Central Institute of Arts and Crafts. He learned some skills from the great artistes like Wu Guanzhong, Li Kuchan and Wei Tianlin, which helped to lay a solid foundation of his Chinese and Western paintings. In 1973, he came to Beijing Painting Academy and became a professional artist. Then he chose the figure painting as the main creation direction. His works represented the Chinese culture and historical Chinese figures. He constantly created a lot of works which presented the revolutionary leaders and historical figures, forming his own style of painting.

For those who study Mandarin in China, the exhibition offered an opportunity to appreciate the great works. The works of Wang Weizheng presented the history and culture well.
