Taiwan Handicraft Exhibition in Beijing

2012 Taiwan Handicraft Exhibition would be held in Taiwan Guild Hall in Beijing. The exhibition was to present the art wares of Taiwan to the residents in mainland of China in a large and centralized scale. The exhibition objects would be the products of good quality and high standards. Yang Yi, minister of cultural publicity department of All-China Federation of Taiwan Compatriots, said that the exhibition was to strengthen the exchange between the two parties. The two parties should learn from each other and boost the development of each other to create the bright future of Chinese culture. The exhibition helped to promote the peace development of the two parties.

It was reported that the exhibition would present more than 80 pieces of excellent art wares. The pieces related to the lacquering, ceramics, carving, knitting, leather carving as well as golden and silver accessories. The exhibition zones included three theme zones which were the precious pieces zone, delicate pieces zone and creativity pieces zone. The precious pieces zone would exhibit the classics works by the representative masters in Taiwan. The works in the delicate pieces zone combined the art design with the daily life, making the works of art appreciation and practical applicability. The creativity pieces zone would present the works by the young artists to reveal the spirit of inheritance and innovation.

Lin Mei, curator of Taipei Division of Taiwan Arts& Handicrafts Research and Development Center, said the exhibition works included those who had won the prizes in different competitions in Taiwan. The works on the exhibition could reflect the highest levels of the present arts in Taiwan. The exhibition not only mirrored the preserving and developing to Taiwan traditional arts but also the creativity of the youth. There were some students do the volunteer in China in the exhibition practicing them.

Wang Shan, secretary general of China Arts & Crafts Association, expressed that the arts and crafts circles were in close contact in recent years. He said that the culture of Taiwan and China came from the same origin and the exchange between the two parties would help to develop the culture and promote the economic and trade cooperation between two parties.
