2nd United Nations Chinese Language Day Held in Armenia

On the date of April 13th in Yerevan of Armenia, the Confucius Institute of Belousov National University of Languages held the second session of the United Nations Chinese language Day activity which is beneficial to promote Chinese language and Chinese culture to the international world. Sullen Zuoliang, the president of Yerevan Belousov National University of Languages took charge of the activity of United Nations Chinese language Day.

In addition, many important relevant leaders attended to this activity such as Dafina Gercheva, coordinator of the United Nations to Armenia representative office and Zhao Mingwen, temporary commission of China to Armenia. They all gave speeches about the activity and watched the performance of the teachers and students in Confucius Institute together with the audiences.

The Confucius Institute is an important and famous institute to teach Mandarin Chinese to the foreigners and also promote Chinese cultures to the foreigners to help them know more about China. During the performance, the students of Confucius Institute sang many beautiful Chinese songs, recited the elegant poems written in Tang Dynasty as well as performed traditional Chinese dances. In addition, Mr Liu Hong of Confucius Institute lead the students of martial arts class performed the fantastic Chinese martial arts to the audiences.

As a matter of fact, Chinese martial arts have rich contents, including Taiji, Chang Quan and swords performing and so on. The performances of the teachers and students from Confucius Institute especially those of the martial arts class attracted many audiences and won high praise of the spectators and leaders of all levels. After the performances are finished, relevant leaders expressed their gratitude to the performers and took pictures with them.

At present, the Confucius Institute of Belousov National University of Languages in Armenia attaches much more importance to the teaching of Chinese martial arts on the basis of emphasizing the teaching of Chinese language, thus forming the teaching feature of training students adept with both the pen and the sword.

In recent years, with the development and promotion of the overall relationships between China and Armenia, more and more Armenian people begin to learn Chinese language and also Chinese culture. Many adults also express great enthusiasm of learning Chinese martial arts like taiji and fitness qigong, a system of deep breathing exercises. The holding of such activity is helpful to the exchange between two peoples and more will be held in the near future.
