Located in the northwestern area of the beautiful Yuxi city in Yunnan province, Yimen Longquan National Forest Park is in the plateau of central Yunnan. If the foreign students who study in Mandarin learning courses in China know the famous musician Nie’er, they must have heard about Yimen because it is the hometown of Nie’er. In addition, it is also reputed as the hometown of Yunnan cigarette and the hometown of festival lantern. Therefore, Yimen Longquan National Forest Park is a good place to visit.

Yimen Longquan National Forest Park is the forest park built after the approval of the State Forestry Bureau in the year of 1992. The part has long history and rich cultural connotation. According to the horizontal inscribed board, couplets hung on the columns of the hall and the inscription on rocks and cliffs remained from the past, some temples and pavilions were constructed there as early as in the late of Tang Dynasty, making it the center of cultural activities for Yi people in central Yunnan.

It was so attractive that many famous men of letters ever traveled there such as the Number One Scholar Yang Shen in Ming Dynasty, the lieutenant general of Yunnan army cavalry in the early of the Republic of China Liu Fakun, former vice chairman of the National People’s Congress Chu Tunan, former chairman of Chinese Buddhism Association and famous calligrapher Zhao Puchu. The top eight sceneries in Yimen that have been praised by the general since Ming and Qing periods are worthy of visiting, enjoying the fame of the top attraction in western Yunnan.

With beautiful scenery and mountains with delicate beauty, Yimen Longquan National Forest Park is surrounded by mountains in three sides, with the forest coverage of 99.1%. When the students who study Chinese in the city of Kunming visit there, they can see many ancient high trees in the park such as the rare trees species beech and ormosia. There is a 400 year old beech tree with the height of 40 meters and the diameter of 1.3 meters.

The spring water in the park is clear because the strontium mineral spring of Yunnan Mountain Spring is located there. In the Hundreds Birds Garden with the area of 13200 square meters, all kinds of protected wild animals can be seen. In addition, the facilities in the park are complete to provide various services such as catering, entertainment, holiday spending and recuperation.
