Located in the southwest of Hefei city in Anhui province, Zipeng Mountain is only 18 kilometers away from the city area of Hefei. It is connected with city area by the forest avenue. Zipeng Mountain owns the national forest park covering the area of a hundred square kilometers, the main famous scenic areas in which include Zipeng Mountain, Yuantong Mountain, Zhougong Mountain and Daqian Mountain. As a result, the ecological condition of the forest is maintained perfect in the scenic area.
The total forest area in the whole tourist attraction is about 3500 hectares with 470 species of plants and 120 kinds of birds. The number of only the ardeidae is more than 30 thousand. It is attractive for many overseas students who come to learn to speak Chinese in China because there are places of historic interest and scenic beauty, including Xilu Temple which was originally built in the Three Kingdoms, the tomb of Li Dian which was the later generation of the general in Western Han Dynasty Li Ling as well as the tomb of Ge Sheng, the hero of fighting against Jin in Song Dynasty.
Other famous scenic spots also include the statues of Buddha and Amitabha with the height of 15 meters and other statues of Maitreya, Kumarajiva and 500 arhats. This area is also famous for a number of temples and pavilions such as White Cloud Temple, Qianshan Temple, Wenchang Pavilion and Xiyan Pond and so on. The famous revolutionary relic is the grave of the revolutionary martyr Zhang Jin.
Since the water and mountain are connected with each other in the scenic area, a large number of lake, river, pond and spring are just like a series of bright pearls decorated with the green mountains. Therefore, many overseas students spend their holiday there during the period when they attend to school to study in China. The Dayan Bay is characterized by the various amorous feelings while the Immortal Lake is famous for the crystal clear and peaceful water.
As early as in Qing Dynasty, Zipeng Mountain won the reputation of the top mountain in Luyang. When it came to July of 1992, it was approved as the national forest park by the Minister of Forestry. Six years later, it was named as the provincial level scenic area by Anhui Provincial Government. In 2991, it became 2A level scenic area by the National Tourism Administration.
