Visiting Waterfalls in Wenshan Prefecture in Yunnan

Located in the southeast of Yunnan province, Wenshan Zhuang and Miao Autonomous Prefecture is a good place to spend your holiday because you can see many waterfalls. One of the popular waterfalls is Xiao Chan Waterfall which is situated in the south of the city seat of Wenshan, about 15 kilometers away. In the middle of two mountains, you can see only a line of blue sky when you look up. The water of Panlong River flows down from the height of 80 meters, creating a fantastic view.

It is more fantastic when it comes to the rainy season. The water spray is splashing and the sound is just like ten thousand horses are running. Many foreign students have been there during the period when they study in Mandarin learning courses in Yunnan province. According to their introduction, they wonderful waterfall in Wenshan reminds them of the verse of famous poet Li Bai that “It‘s torrent dashes down three thousand feet from high, as if the Silver River fell down from azure sky”.

If you intend to visit Xiao Chan Waterfall in Wenshan, two methods are recommended, namely, self-driving and rent a minibus. In addition, it is suggested to stay in the city area at night. Of course, if you want to feel the natural environment, you can also stay there in the peasant family. Another waterfall recommended is Pu Yang Waterfall which is located in Puyang Village in Funing County. In the upstream of Nanli River, it is about 44 kilometers away from the county seat.

The fall of the waterfall is as high as 96 meters, with the width of 20 meters. The upper part of the waterfall is the cliff and the lower part is the valley. Therefore, the scene is fantastic to watch. It looks like a colorful rainbow under the sunshine. On both sides of the waterfall, you can see the dangerous cliff and some strange stones. The mountain area is covered with the dense forest and beautiful wild fragrant flowers.

The last but not least waterfall recommended to the students who learn Chinese in Yunnan is San La Waterfall in Guangnan County. In Zhuang language, San La means the place that three rivers come together. It was called Xiang Quan Waterfall in the past. The water is divided into three levels according to the mountain condition, each level has a pond. And the fall of the water fall is also large.
