Tomb of Politician Sai Dian Chi in Yuan Dynasty

Besides the stadium at the gate of Wuliduo Primary School which is in Minhang Road of the eastern city area of Kunming city, there is a square-shaped tomb with the height of 2.4 meters and the width of 1.3 meters. With the tile stone engraved from bluestone in the top, this tomb is surrounded by headstones on all sides. In the front of the tomb, there is a tablet inscribed with eight characters indicating it is the tomb of Sai Dian Chi.

When foreigners are wandering in Kunming city during the process of learning in Chinese Mandarin programs in the city of Kunming, they may come across to this place. According to the introduction of the students, there is also a tablet inscribed with Mongolian language on the back of tomb. If they pay much attention, they can also see many characters inscribed in both sides of the tomb, the left of which is the an excerpt about Sai Dian Chi chosen from the history book while the other side is the record of reconstructing the tomb written by Yuan Jiagu.

This mausoleum is a memorial grave constructed to commemorate the highest level administrator in the beginning of Yuan Dynasty Sai Dian Chi. In the early Yuan Dynasty, the contradictions in Yunnan were obvious and insuperable, causing much instability. Therefore, the emperor Kublai Khan selected and used the meticulous and honest Sai Dian Chi to govern Yunnan province. He was appointed officially in the year of 1274.

The important point that the foreign students need to know when they study in Chinese school in China is the measures he took to govern Yunnan into a stable state.
