Three Parallel Rivers in Yunnan

Every foreign learner who comes to study in China may have heard about the famous Three Parallel Rivers in Yunnan Province, which is located at the northwestern of Yunnan. It covers the areas of Nujiang prefecture, Diqing prefecture, Lijiang area and some parts of Dali area. It is so widely that boder on Burma in west and close to Sichuan province in north and also connects Tibet. If you go there when you study in China, you should know there are three main scenic areas, namely Nujiang River, Lancang River and Jinsha River.

Besides, there are eight central areas and 60 scenic spots, covering a total area of 3,500 square kilometers. The three rivers flow concurrently in the northwestern area for more than a hundred kilometers. When you learn Chinese in China, you may be told that closest straight-line distance among the three rivers is 66.3 kilometers. And the closest distance between Nujiang River and Lancang River is only 18.6 kilometers. The attracting things for those who study in China may be the natural landscapes, rare plants and animals as well as the unique ethnic customs. As the biggest area in Yunnan, it is not developed nowadays.
