Today we have three aspects of learning contents related to grammar. The three aspects of grammar arepassive sentences, reduplication of measure words and 一年比一年. When learning the three aspects of grammar, the students should remember the example to reinforce the understanding of the grammar.
First, let’s move to the first aspect of grammar today, the passive sentences. The passive sentence in Chinese is 被动句. The passive sentences are used to indicate the expression of the passive. The subject of a Chinese sentence may be the agent as well as the recipient of an act. The former is an active construction, the latter is passive. When the target of an act is emphasized or illustrated, a passive sentence is used. The basic structure for sentence is 受事主语+动词+其他成分(Subject (Recipient of an act)+Verb + Other sentence elements. The concepts of the passive sentence are made clear. Several examples will help to understand it better. The first passive sentence is 我的眼镜摔坏了. The recipient of the act is my glasses我的眼镜. The act is to be broken被摔坏了. The sentence can be translated like this-My glasses are broken. The second example is 照片洗好了. The recipient of the act is the picture 照片. The act is to develop洗照片. The sentence can be translated like this-The picture has been developed. Two more sentences will be assignments which require you to identify the subject and the act. They are 我的护照找到了吗?她的字写得真不错。The study of passive sentence of Chinese is not too hard when you study Mandarin Chinese. You can learn this very quick.
Ok, we will have a look at the second aspect of grammar today- the reduplication of measure words. Nominal and verbal measure words can both be reduplicated to mean every. Let’s take a sentence for example. 这些照片张张照得都很好. The measure word 张is reduplicated to emphasize every picture is well taken. The literal meaning of the sentence is that every picture is well taken.
Then the phrase一年比一年will be learned. 一年比一年is used as an adverbial to indicate the increasing change in something with the change of time. For example, 有汽车的人一年比一年多. The sentence can be translated like this-The owners of the cars are increasing year by year. A similar phrase is 一天比一天, which means day by day. The example is like this 来中国以后,我一天比一天胖. The sentence can be translated into I am becoming fatter day by day after I came to China.
When dealing with the three aspects of grammar, students should make more examples to study Chinese. The teachers may tell you that the understanding of sentence is through practice. Thus, making examples is a good way to practice the contents.
