Learn Chinese in Lhasa

However, our suggestion is go to Lhasa for travel and practice your spoken Chinese there. If you do this, Lhasa will impress you a lot when you study in China.

Lhasa means “the Holy Land” or Buddhism in Zang language, and it is by now quite long a time when it has been the center of Tibetan politics, economy, culture and religion. Also because Zang language has a great influence in Lhasa and there are a few people can speak standard Mandarin Chinese. It will be harmful, if you learn Chinese in Lhasa. The splendid and magnificent Potala Place is a symbol of unification of the state and the church. As early as 7 century BC when Sontzen Gampo had annexed neighbors tribes to have Tibet united, he established Tubo Imperial Court and removed the capital from Yalong to Luozi, today’ Lhasa.

On May 23, 1951, Tibet was liberated peacefully and Lhasa stepped into its new age. In 1960, permission to set up Lhasa as a prefecture-level city was officially given by the State Council of PRC. By the year 1982, Lhasa became the first set 24 cities which were officially announced to be the State Historic and Cultural City.

Lhasa City locates in a valley impact basin, and it is one of the world cities of the highest elevation. Its features of place are leaning from east to west. Its climate belongs to plateau climate temperature half dry. Its annual sunlight ratio is up to over 3,000 hours, it is, therefore, gained a beautiful name called “City of Sunlight”. Lhasa, a city of 1,300 years’ history, is now the capital city of Tibet Autonomous Region. It locates in the southeast part of Tibet, by the north side of a tributary river of the Yarlung Zangbo River. It is the most attractive city in Tibet.

Most of Tibetan people are now adopting their old traditional costumes. The prayer wheel and beads which never come out from hands show obviously that Buddhism has become an actual life style.
