As an ancient town located in Maguan County in Wenshan Miao and Zhuang Autonomous Prefecture in Yunnan province, Dulong was one of the war zones in the period of bordering was between China and Vietnam in the past. The straight-line distance to Vietnam is only eight kilometers. When it comes to Sunday, except for the ethnic groups in the local area such as Miao, Zhuang, Dai, Buyi and also Han people, there are also the Zhuang and Miao people from Vietnam gather in Dulong which functions as a market.

Of course, there are also many merchants in west of China and tourists. The largest number can reach ten thousand people. Another attractive species should be houttuynia cordata, which is not only a kind of green food, but also a traditional Chinese herb. Some other popular species are fiddlehead, wild yam and Hui Diao Cai.

Since there are so many ethnic groups living around Dulong, there are many ethnic festivals you can enjoy. In Chinese school in China, you may be told the most famous are Torch festival of Yi people which is held in June 25th of the lunar calendar and Water Splashing Festival of Dai people being held in April 11th in solar calendar, each has special legend. The liveliest period should be the festival time.
