Da Shan Bao National Nature Reserve in Yunnan Province

Da Shan Bao is a national natural reserve located in Da Shan Bao Town in western Zhaoyang District in Zhaotong city. Since it is situated plateau area of Wulianfeng mountain range in Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau, foreign learners who learn to speak Chinese should know the geomorphic type belongs to high mountains and hills. It is on the main line of Yunnan internal channel. Therefore, there are railway, road, airline and water route connect with the outside world.

About 79 kilometers away from the city area of Zhaoyang District, it belongs to a mountain scenic area type with the combination of natural protection zone and natural landscapes. Da Shan Bao Scenic Area was planned and constructed in the year of 2002, with the total area of 192 square kilometers and the altitude of 2215 meters and 3364 meters. The features of the climate vary in vertical range. Due to the annual average temperature of 6.2 ℃, it is the hometown of the rare and endangered black-necked cranes in the world.

As a matter of fact, there are more than 1300 black-necked cranes living in this area, accounting for one-fourth if that in the whole world. The scenic area is a combination of landscapes, wetlands, meadows, lakes and waterfalls as well as rare animals with the characteristics of vast, pretty, dangerous, mysterious and rare. It can be called as a pure paradise with perfect ecology and without pollution. Many people said it is a comprehensive ecological travel area for sightseeing, photographing, scientific exploration, adventuring, leisure and entertainment.
