How to Get to Puzhehei?

Puzhehei is located in the Wenshan Zhuang and Miao Autonomous Prefecture of Yunnan province and borders the Guangxi province. It is approximately 174 miles southeast of the provincial capital of Kunming.

The best way to get to Puzhehei is to take the high-speed train from Kunming, which takes about 60 minutes. We offer you train station pick-up and drop-off for free.

Places to Visit in Puzhehei – Puzhehei National Wet-land Park

Puzhehei Wetland is located in the subtropical limestone mountain zone. The wetland and the stone mountains are integrated, forming a unique natural landscape and a special karst lake wetland ecosystem. It is a very representative karst landform in southwest China.

The total area of Puzhehei National Wetland Park is 16,611 acres, and the biological diversity in this area is also vibrant. The Moon Cave and the Torch Cave are the most famous karst caves to visit.

Places to Visit in Puzhehei – Caihua Village 菜花菁

This village is named Caihua Village because it’s next to the Oilseed blossoms fields. It is a Miao minority group village that well preserves the Miao minority culture. It also preserves some primitive buildings and traditional minority customs. For example, the famous Flower and Mountain festival is held from January 2 to 7 according to the lunar calendar. You can enjoy the equestrian race, Miao group singing event, and Miao group dancing performance during the festival.

Places to Visit in Puzhehei – Qinglong Mountain 青龙山

Qinglong Mountain is located about 600 meters west of Puzhehei Village. The central peak is 1,555 meters above sea level and 108 meters above the lake. It is not a very high mountain, so it is not difficult to climb.

Qinglong Mountain is the best place to enjoy the bird’s view of the Puzhehei scenic area and its villages. Walking along the narrow mountain road to the top of the mountain, lush trees along the way. After reaching the top of the mountain, there is a view platform for photographers to take pictures. The sunrise and sunset are all magnificent here.

Places to Visit in Puzhehei – Shede Grassland 舍得草场

Shede Grassland is located in the northwest of Qiubei County, covering more than 10,000 acres. It is the largest grassland in Yunnan Province and is praised as the “Mini version of Shangri-La.”

In the scenic area, the Yangxiong Mountain is the highest in Qiubei County, with more than 2500 meters. Virgin forest and towering ancient trees cover the mountain. Looking east from the top of Yangxiong Mountain, you can have a panoramic view of Puzhehei National Wetland Park.

The Bailong Lake scenic area is composed of Qinglong Island, Cuizhu Island, and Biyun Island, which delicately combine the scenery of the lake and mountains here. There are 7 small islands and 3 peninsulas in total, so it is also praised as the Yunnan version of the “Qiandao Lake.”

Bailong Lake belongs to the plateau freshwater lake, so the water here is in a blending color of blue and green. Even in the flood season, turbid water is rarely seen here in Bailong Lake.

Things To Do in Puzhehei – Experience the Yi Minority culture by celebrating the Hualian Festival 花脸节

The Hualian Festival is the most solemn traditional festival for the Yi people in Puzhehei, Qiubei. This festival was originally set to exorcise evil spirits by smearing black dust on people’s faces from the stove.

For the time being, this festival has become the opportunity for contemporary Yi youths to express their romantic love emotion to others. At this time of each year, young men and women in Yi villages chase each other and try to smear the black dust on their favorite one’s face. The darker you are smeared, the more love and affection you receive from others. You should try to run away from the black dust if you don’t want to accept these affections. Every year, there will be over ten thousand people participating in this activity.

Things To Do in Puzhehei – Experience the Zhuang Minority culture by celebrating the Dragon Sacrificing Festival 祭龙节

This festival is celebrated on the lunar March 3. The Zhuang minority group worships the god of the forest, “竜,” a giant ancient tree in the forest. Because the Zhuang minority group lives near and depends on local forest resources, it is strictly forbidden to cut down trees here. This festival is set to remind Zhuang people always to show respect to nature and prey for health.

During the festival, Zhuang people have lots of entertainment together, including Zhuang drama, singing and dancing performances, the game of knocking red eggs on each other, a fireworks show, and eating a glutinous rice cake.
