Ms. Jin Li, born in Chuxiong – Yunnan, graduated from university in 2013 with a bachelor degree in English language. Since then, she has been working as a language teacher. Jin started to work at Keats from the beginning of 2014. Till this month, Jin has taught more than 40 students from all over the world with different Chinese language levels. Jin has a strong ability to teach students with any language background. After teaching the small group classes for two semesters, Jin summed up many creative and interesting teaching methods, which significantly helped her students improve their Chinese.
Keats: Ms. Jin Li, why did you choose to work in Kunming given the fact that you were born in Chuxiong?
Jin: Kunming, located in the southwest of China, is a hub of cultural and economic exchanges with Southeast Asian countries. Therefore, you can find many opportunities here. In addition, the weather in Kunming is ideal for living and working here. It is not far from my hometown and I can go back home to visit my parents easily.
Keats: Why did you choose to work at Keats?
Jin: To me, Keats is more like a big family. I love working here. Whenever I encounter problems, everyone else is more than happy to help me and share their experience with me. I feel happy from bottom of my heart when I teach at Keats and see the progress made by my students. I can also receive self-improvement by working at Keats, which is an important part of my career planning.
Keats: Which activity impressed you most when you work at Keats?
Jin: Except the daily teaching at Keats, the school also organizes interesting after-class activities. The management team does a great job in helping the teachers and the students solve their problems in time. I remember once when we took a day-trip to the Golden Temple. The management team carefully prepared all games and arranged an English speaking tour guide for us, which surprised all teachers and students. Most of us have visited the Golden Temple many times, but none of us really understand its history and story. This trip impressed me most and I feel that I am learning as a student as well.
Keats: By working at Keats, which aspects do you think you get improved?
Jin: Before working at Keats, I thought teaching Chinese can be an easy job. However, after the professional training at Keats, I found that teaching Chinese and being an excellent Chinese teacher are challenging. The training before work was very helpful to me because I learned so many teaching methods, which turned out to be very efficient when I used them in my real teaching. I also like the on-going training after I started to work. The experienced teachers like to share and exchange their teaching thoughts with the new teachers. Now, I can master the teaching materials to meet different students’ learning expectations and requirements. The focus for my next stage at Keats would be testing the creative teaching methods I made, to make my teaching more interesting and effective.
