Turkey’s Chinese Culture Year Held in Modern Art Museum

In recent years, China attaches more and more importance to the cultural exchange with foreign countries. During the period from March 22nd to 29th, the activity “Chinese Film Week” was held in Istanbul. Some of the foreign students who study Mandarin in China may be told that this activity is jointly held by China’s State Administration of Radio and Film Bureau, Turkey Embassy and Turkey Modern Art Museum. On 22nd, Yu Jian, the Chinese Ambassador to Turkey Embassy and Levin, the chief of curator of Istanbul Modern Art Museum jointly announced the opening of this Chinese Film Week.

During the opening ceremony, many activities were held to celebrate, among which the attractive performance should be the exciting traditional Chinese acrobatic performances brought by Henan Acrobatics Group. Of course, many famous films were inevitable showed in the opening ceremony. The counselor Yu Jian and Mr. Levin as well as more than 200 audiences watched the opening performances and the opening movie Mei Langfang together.

According to the introduction of the chief curator of Istanbul Modern Art Museum, this Chinese Film Week activity is one of the programs held in 2012 Turkey’s Chinese culture Year, with the theme of celebrating Chinese Dragon Year. During this process, the audiences can appreciate many Chinese films in Istanbul Modern Art Museum such as Confucius, Walking to School, Mei Langfang, A Story of Lala’s Promotion, Feng Sheng, Bodyguards and Assassins, Dreaming back to JInsha City, etc.

Istanbul Modern Art Museum is located on the side of Bosphorus Strait in Istanbul, closes to Holden Horn Bay. As the most important modern arts center in Istanbul, the Modern Art Museum receives nearly 5,000 visitors a day on average. Among so many exhibitions held in its history, one of the most popular one was “Hell’s Ladder” held by Monika Bangwei Xini in 2003, which was a sculpture exhibition with the theme of the chains and glasses cracked by bullets.
