When the foreign students study in China, they may encounter different kinds of questions. The students may have difficulty in dealing with such questions. When the students are confronted with such questions, they should understand the context of the sentence and find the vacant words which are needed to complete the blank filling task. Some examples will be given to strengthen the understanding of the sentences and the ways to fill the pinyin into the blanks. Let’s see some examples specifically.
Let’s see six pinyin of some specific words. The six pinyin are quanji, changdi, yizhi, meili, shunbian and lengluo. The literal meanings of the six pinyin are boxing, scene, will, charm, by the way and desolation. The first sentence is like the following. 我不太喜欢看（）比赛,因为我受不了那种打斗的（）. The first blank is short of a noun to modify the word 比赛 (competition). The second blank is also short of a noun as well and the pinyin changmian should be filled into the blank. Thus, the first sentence should be filled with the pinyin quanji and changmian. The meaning of the sentence is that I don’t like boxing matches for I can’t stand the fighting scenes of the match.
Let’s see the second sentence 这个古老的城市充满了（）. The blank should be filled with a noun and the literal meaning of the sentence is that the old city is filled with something and the something refers to the charm of the city. Thus, the blank should be filled with the pinyin meili. Thus, the meaning of the sentence is that this old city is filled with charm. Let’s see the third sentence回家的路上,我（）去了一趟超市. The blank should be filled with an adverb or an adverbial phrase. Thus, the meaning by the way should be filled into the blank to refer the literal meaning of the sentence that I will go to the supermarket by the way on the way home. Thus, the other words or meaning of the respective words should be known to fill the blanks correctly when the foreign students learn Chinese in Chinese schools.
Let’s move to the fourth sentence. The blank should be filled with the pinyin lengluo and the meaning of the sentence will be that the children feel being neglected and cried for their parents just talked with each other. The fifth sentence should be filled with the pinyin yizhi to indicate the meaning that it needs strong will to take part in the decathlon.
