Lesson 13 – Elementary – Degree Complements With and Without 得

The degree complements with 得 and without 得 are frequently appear in free Chinese lesson. There are some basic forms for this usage. The first one is adjective/verbal predicate+得+adjective like 他们表演得非常精彩. Different words can be added after 得 to express different degrees such as 很、多、不得了、慌、要命、不行、adjective+极了. If you go for free Chinese lesson, you can learn from examples like 哈尔滨的冬天很冷, 一考试他就紧张得不得了, 他汉子写得漂亮极了, etc.

At the same time, teachers would tell you some situations without 得 when teaching Chinese. There are totally four types of degree complements without 得, that is, when there are 极了、透了、死了、坏了 after adjective or verbal predicate. Here are some examples for free Chinese lesson: 这孩子可爱极了, 办这件事手续麻烦透了 and 工作把我累坏了.
