Chen Yongbin used 99999 kg copper to build a set of golden temple, which modeling on the image of the Taihe Palace on Wudang Mountain.

According to legendary stories, the previous life of Chen Yongbin was a Xiucai (which referred to someone who passed the imperial examination at the county level). He took the exams for three times, but never did he pass. He was so angry that he left his wife and daughter, and then lived far away from the crowd in a stone cave at Mingfeng Mountain, which was said there would be Gods drinking tea in the stone cave. Since then, he was hoping to meet God. However, it never happened as time went by. He got raged and scolded all of the gods and goddess.
Among those gods and goddess, he admired the Eight Immortals (everyone who study in China will be familiar with its Chinese meaning that is eight gods in Chinese legendary) the most, and it was Ba Xian in Mandarin. Lu Dongbin was his favorite one in the Eight Immortals because Lu was the one who live to the concept of freedom. Thus, he wrote “in order to ease my anger, I need see Lu Dongbin” on the stone right near his cave.
One day, when he was drinking, he heard someone singing outside. He got out and saw Lu Dongbin because he remembered Lu’s appearance. He kneeled down on the ground and said,” Finally, I really met you.” The Taoist priest (Dao Shi in Mandarin) smiled and said, “I am not the god who you want to meet, and I am just an ordinary Dao Shi who is tired of traveling around. The only thing I want to do is find a place to have a rest.”
Xiucai thought he was fooled by Dao Shi’s appearance. He got angrier. However, Dao Shi came into the stone cave immediately and started to eat Xiucai’s food. Most of the food was eaten by Dao Shi. When the jade glass that was passed down from Xiucai’s grandfather was broken by Dao Shi, Xiucai drove Dao Shi out of his stone cave.
When Xiucai got out and looked around, there was no one. He looked up and found someone carved another sentence next to the place where he wrote “in order to ease my anger, I need see Lu Dongbin”. It was “when I meet Lu Dongbin, I got much angrier.” At that moment, he realized the man he saw was Lu Dongbin himself. Xiucai went back into the cave with disappointment. To his surprise, his food and wine came back on the table. He drank all the wine and got himself killed by his wine.
After he died, his ghost came to a family and reborn as Chen Yongbin. When Chen Yongbin grew up, he passed the imperial examination at the county level and was sent to Yunnan Province as a local governor. When he came to Yunnan, he found that the mountain and scenery was so familiar. One day, he found the Mingfeng Mountain, and at the time he got into the cave, he remembered what happened before. He named the place as “Chun Yang Cave (Chun Yang is another name of Lu Dongbin)” and built the Golden Temple on the top of the mountain.
