Located in the city area of Jilin City, Jilin Northern Lake Ski Resort was originally built in the year of 1993. It is situated in the place with the east longitude of 126 degrees and the northern latitude of 43 degrees, about 53 kilometers away from the city center of Jilin and 141 kilometers of Changchun city. In the history of this ski resort, the snow programs of the eighth session and the ninth session of winter sports meetings were successfully held in this place. In addition, all of the snow field competitions in the sixth session of Asia Winter Sports Meeting in 2007 were processed in the ski resort.
Just as some of the foreign students who attend to Chinese school to study Mandarin know, the Northern Lake Ski Resort is the skiing field with the largest scale, the most advanced equipments and the richest natural resources in China. As a result, it becomes one of the important snow field sports programs training base as well as the snow scenery truism center. At present, it has been developed into a 4A national scenic area.
The area for skiing is totally 17.5 square kilometers so you can just ski as you like and enjoy yourselves. There are totally nine peaks with the altitude of above 1200 meters. The main peak named Nanlou Mountain with the height of 1404.8 meters above sea level is regarded as the highest peak in Jilin area. Since the Northern Lake Ski Resort is surrounded by mountains in three sides, it has small wind power, proper temperature, deep snow and high quality snow in winter.
In total, there are 11 high mountain snow trails in the Northern Lake Ski Resort with the total length of 20 kilometers. It covers the total area of more than 70 hectares. For the skiing trials, the largest slope degree is as steep as 32 degrees while the minimum grade is about seven degrees. In addition, there are seven snow trails were equipped. Some of the students who learn Chinese in China are attracted to there because of the shooting range which covers an area of 7040 square meters.
Of course, there are also two diving platforms and one air skiing platform as well as one dry land sled. At present, the Northern Lake Ski Field can receive 3000 tourists each day and provide accommodation for 600 tourists at the same time. After further development, it will become the first class ski resort in the world.
