Five-Needle Pine in Qiao Jia County of Yunnan Province

If you are one of those who learn Chinese in China, you may know a beautiful place named Qiao Jia County in the city of Zhao Tong in Yunnan province. It is said by the National Nature Reserve Administration of Yunnan Qiao Jia Medicine Mountain that after 14 years artificial breed, the local administration has successfully reproduced 5,000 nursery stocks of five- needle pine.

As is known to all people, including those who learn Mandarin in China, that five- needle pine is generally recognized as “panda in plant kingdom”, which means five- needle pine is rare and precious among all plant species. There are only about 34 five- needle pines around the whole world. They are preciously treasured by all countries in the globe.

Wu Ming Zhong, from the administration of Qiao Jia Medicine Mountain National Nature Reserve, gives further introduction to those foreign students who take HSK preparation program in China. He said, “Those 5,000 nursery stocks of five- needle pine have been growing very well, and the success of cultivating them helps us find a new way of artificial cultivation breeding. It is also important to the better protection of native plants community and restoring species.”

Yang Jia Wan management director and senior engineer Zhang Tian Bi introduced to foreign workers who were in internships in China that in recent years, management administration have worked hard to carry out comprehensive management and monitoring work in the nursery field, and we have always put nature into our first consideration.

They have successfully cultivated 5000 nursery stocks of five- needle pines in 2011, and it is really a hard and arduous job.
