Chinese kitchen utensils

In an ordinary Chinese kitchen, you can often see ancient utensils: a mortar and pestle used as a garlic crusher, iron wire shelves used for baking bread, and wooden rolling pins. Chinese kitchen utensils emphasize the idea of “one tool, many uses.” For example, chopsticks can be used for eating and also in place of whisk or blender. Rolling pins can flatten dough for dumplings or noodles, as well as, grinding small things on a chopping block, such as, peppers, sesame and various other ingredients.

Besides using ladles to eat with, they can be used to open jars. Chinese utensils are mostly used for use by hand. China uses wood or bamboo to take most of their kitchen items. Chinese utensils are completely natural, and very rarely have the mark of a manufactured product. The materials are mostly wood or bamboo, which have been available throughout the history of mankind. In a sense, the use of traditional methods is a way to commemorate ancient civilizations. The versatility of these utensils reveals the uniqueness of Chinese culture and tolerance of other culture.
