Buddhist Sutras Translator

The Buddhism was introduced to China very early. It had close relationship with the translators who translated the Buddhist sutras. When foreigners come to learn Chinese in China, they should know that master Luoshi was the first translator who translated the Buddhist sutras.

Master Luoshi was born in ancient India. He believed in Buddhism at the age of seven under the influence of his mother. Those who study Chinese in China may be told that his earliest teacher understood Buddha dharma not so good so that the teacher became the student. Then master Luoshi became famous in the western areas, even in central China.

Master Luoshi was a monk in the later Qin period. He spent more than ten years to be devoted to translating Buddhist sutras. If you attend to school to study Mandarin in China, teachers may tell you that he has translated 35 Buddhist sutras within fifteen years.

The Buddhist sutras he translated were all classic and widely spread. The contents were rich and the words used were in fluency. Some students who learn Chinese in China may be told that there are some new translations in later generations but the translation by Master Luoshi was irreplaceable.
