It is a long process to acquire Chinese language, during which the foreign students need to learn more Chinese oral expressions for the purpose of achieving smooth communication with Chinese people. All of those expressions are important and easy to learn if they are put into the real language environment. For example, when you hear your Chinese friends say sentences with the structure 说不上…, 可（是）… like 说不上很了解，可是一起工作那么长时间了，互相还是比较熟悉的, you need to know it means it hasn’t reached the mentioned degree, but the speaker still knows something about it.

The phrase 说穿了is also frequently used in daily conversations because it is applied to reveal the truth or the basic purpose to the point. You can make sentences like 你听他口口声声地说他是为全体员工谋福利，说穿了他就是在收买人心. That is to say, the part after 说穿了is the truth the speaker wants to reveal. When you attend to Chinese school to study Mandarin, teachers would teach you the expression 说到哪儿去了which is applied to mean the other party shouldn’t say so. Sometimes, it is for politeness.

You may also often hear Chinese people say 说得过去 when talking, which is an important oral Chinese expression to mean it can reach a certain standard or meet a certain accepted requirement so that it can be accepted. For instance, 妈妈病了这么多天，你都不回去看看，说得过去吗？If you want to negate something with this expression, you should use the negative form 说不过去.

The last but not least expression that the students who learn Chinese in China need to know is 说得好听, which is to mean somebody just makes some oral promises and hasn’t realized it in fact. It carries the tone of dissatisfaction or blame. If you intend to say somebody didn’t keep the promise, you can say你说得好听！十年前你就这么说过！
