For example, when you hear Chinese people say 这样吧, you need to know it is usually used before making a suggestion for the others like A:请问，玛丽在吗？B：她刚出去，这样吧，你先坐坐，我帮你叫她.

Another common expression that the foreign learners need to understand and master is 这样一来, which is applied to infer or point out something will change in accordance with what has happened. For example, 我们单位派我去欧洲签一份合同，这样一来，咱们的婚礼就得推迟了. If Chinese people say这是怎么说的, they intend to mean such a thing should not take place. Sometimes, it is to apologize for one’s own faults. For instance, A: 其实我早就来了，看你们正在说事我就没进来。B：这是怎么说的！我们都在等你呢.

The pattern 这下…了is also often seen in daily conversations which is to mean the previous case produces the latter result like我的钥匙找不着了，这下可遭了，我进不去了. During the process when you learn to speak Chinese, you may also often hear 这是什么话to mean somebody should not say so like这是什么话，搞好环境卫生是我们大家的事. Sometimes used among friends, with casual tone. Sometimes, it can be 什么话，carrying the tone of dissatisfaction or questioning somebody.

The last but not least expression will be explained is 这是两回事 which is to mean the concept or nature of two things is different and can’t be treated the same. Sometimes, it can also be said simply into 两回事or这是两码事. For instance, 两回事，大是指个子高，不是指岁数.
