Keats School’s 3rd International Cultural Festival! Get Going!

We will hold Keats School’s annual largest event – the 3rd International Cultural Festival next week. There will be two themes for this event: “I Love My Hometown” and “I can sing Chinese songs”. The teachers and the students have been looking forward to this event and now it is finally around the corner. Many students expressed that learning Chinese in China at Keats not only helps them improve Chinese language skills, but also enriches their after-school life. Many students have become big fans for Keats activities and they do not miss any opportunities to meet new friends and fresh ideas about learning Mandarin Chinese.

After an interview with the events planning experts of Keats, we learned that the aim for the International Cultural Festival is not only to help students learn Chinese in a different way, but also better express themselves through their rich cultural backgrounds. In addition, the festival will have a mix of interactive games, to help the students and the teachers get to know each other outside of the classrooms. Keats staffs are always determined to prepare creative activities and fabulous shows for our students during each year’s cultural festival. From years of experience in holding large events at Keats, we have received countless positive responses from our students. What makes Keats School unparalleled and distinctive, aside from her outstanding teaching quality in Chinese, is her rich and far-reaching cultural activities. Studying Chinese at Keats is no longer an effective way to learn Chinese, but also a fun way to feel and explore the culture.

Last week, when the students learned that they will sing a Chinese song with their teachers, they were all very excited. Many students asked for recommendation of special songs from their teachers. The teachers suggested some traditional Chinese style music and the students got to vote what they want to sing. Some students who have a deep interest in Chinese pop music recommended Chinese rock songs, Chinese minority songs, and even some Chinese Peking Opera.

During the class breaks, you will see that students practice singing and dancing. At the same time, they are also looking forward to seeing other people’s performances. One-on-one students are also carefully preparing their shows such as music instrument performance, mime, etc. They all wish to bring the most wonderful show to other students and teachers.

Another peak part for the cultural festival would be showing the students’ hometowns. Each student will have 1 to 2 minutes to perform whatever they like to help other people understand their hometowns. Some students will perform traditional dancing, while some will recite a beautiful poem. A Swedish student would like to perform with another a Swedish student, to better present their hometown and country.

Of course, games have always been the essence of each large event. However, the games for this coming cultural festival will be different from previous years. Want to experience an international environment and meet friends from all over the world? Want to try a different way to learn Chinese? Want to show the world what your hometown looks like? Come to the Keats School’s 3rd International Cultural Festival! We are here to get the magic trip started!

We will release more information about the Keats School’s 3rd International Cultural Festival in next week’s news. Don’t forget to come back to check it out.

I think the Chinese learning environment here is great. The teaching methods are also very interactive and fun. What I particularly enjoy here is the fact that my teacher does not stick to the textbook. We spend a lot of time discussing general topics, such as Chinese culture, world news, typical expressions used by local people. We also discuss social and economic topics.

It has been notable because I have met a lot of people who I met first time last year like me to come back to Keats this year. The teaching has been fantastic. The teachers carefully prepare each lesson. I think this one-on-one approach is really a great way to rapidly increase your level of Chinese and increase your confidence and fluency with the language.

The teachers at Keats know how to read the students and how to help students learn Chinese language easily. They know the level of the students. I am a slow learner, but they managed to adapt to my learning. They made the class very fun, very exciting. I am pleased that not only I got to learn the culture and the language, but I also got to make amazing friends, really unbelievable, Chinese friends and European friends, American friends, from all over the world.

Listening and speaking in the classroom every day has improved my communication skills. After three weeks, my new words and sentences became more and more natural and fluent. Now I am used to thinking in Chinese, and I understand better what other people say, to be able to have real conversations with other people.

Kunming is a great place to learn Chinese in China because not many Chinese on the street speak English. Keats has been a great school for me and a lot of other foreigners who studied in China recommended it to me. I think they are all right. The study method here is really structured. They make learning Chinese really easy. There are also a lot of cultural and natural places to visit.
