Shaolin Kungfu

Practiced by monks, Shaolin Kungfu is well known as one type of martial arts with special Buddhist culture of the Songshan Shaolin Temple in Dengfeng City, Henan Province. Shaolin Kungfu has a comprehensive and technical system, so monks need to practice it for many years to get the real insight of Shaolin.

The Shaolin Temple was built during Northern Wei Dynasty (495) and it has been a historical heritage not only forChinese tourists but also for foreigners. Buddhist monks practiced the Shaolin Kungfu in the beginning in the purpose of protecting the temple. However, as 1500 years passed by, people have realized that it has perfect technology, abundant meanings and high reputation in the whole world. In addition, there are 72 stunts and Kungfu of special sorts like capture, wrestle, discharging bone, point percussion and Qigong. Altogether 255 routines of boxing art, weapon and mutual practice are still practiced today.

With the Zen wisdom of Buddhism, the Shaolin Kungfu has developed various connotations.
