Difficulties in Protecting Immovable Cultural Relics

Just as the foreign students who come to study abroad in China, China is not only rich in natural resources, but also rich in cultural heritages possession. According to the result of the third survey of cultural relics, there were totally 770 thousand pieces of immovable cultural relics, excluding those in the regions of Hong Kong, Macao and Tai Wan. This was the introduction made from the group discussion about the arts by Li Xiaojie, the director general of State Administration of Cultural Heritage.

It is universally known that the immovable cultural relics are difficult to protect. Not long ago, the former residential house of Liang Lin in Beijing and the camping of Jiang Jieshi in Chongqing were removed. They are just two specific cases. The problem in universal meaning is that our nation is in the promoting processes of industrialization, urbanization and Informationization. At present, the population in cities and towns has exceeded 50%. As a result, the contradiction between the construction and cultural heritage protection has stepped into the obvious period.

Accordingly, more work need to be done in cultural heritage protection. It also brings much pressure to the State Administration of Cultural Heritage. During the period when you study Mandarin Chinese in China, you may be told that the protection of cultural relics in China has entered its most critical period in recent years. According to Song Xinchao, the deputy director general of State Administration of Cultural Heritage, the phenomena of the destruction and removal of the cultural heritages are getting more serious.

You might have visited many scenic areas with numerous cultural heritages in China. And you can see that Chinese people attach great importance to the former residential houses which belong to the historical and cultural relics. As a matter of fact, the government has tried their best but only successfully protected some of them. And those have been preserved had been destroyed actually.

Indeed, the relevant law system is not perfect at present. In this year, a piece of news comes from some students who study Mandarin in China that the relevant governments of Standing Committee of the National Peopleā€˜s Congress have informed State Administration of Cultural Heritage of investigating in the implement conditions of cultural relics law enforcement so that to make the laws become perfect after modifying. There will be more regulations carried out to protect the immovable cultural relics.
