Residential Styles of Zhoucheng Village of Yunnan

Zhoucheng Village is 23 kilometers far away from the north of Dali Ancient Town. If you have been to Dali when you study in China, you may know it is the biggest villages of Bai people, with 1,500 Bai families. In the village, you can see the typical Bai people’s residential styles three courtyards with one screen wall and four courtyards with five patios, which is the knowledge the foreign students should know when they study in China. The construction is the combination of earth, wood, brick and stone.

If you even been there during the process when you learn Chinese language in China, you might see the color of the upper part of the outside wall is white and the down part is the grey. Bai people attach much importance to the decoration of the screen walls, doors and windows, gable walls and stairways. When you come to study in China, you should know the screen wall is essential in bai people‘s residential houses. Another attractive thing is the various decorations in the houses, including the painting, calligraphy, patterns and famous and precious wood carving and so on.
