The waterfalls are just like the berg crystal, the mountains are piled up by jade stones, the rocks are crystalloid into the ice and the jade emerald are stringed into curtain. This is the praise of the local people in Zhanyi County of Qujing city to the Colorful Cloud Caves in the lakeside of Huashan Lake. Among so many karst caves in Yunnan province, the Colorful Could Cave might be not so famous and known by all people. But it is a very deep and serene and special underground cave with rich colors.
It was developed in recent years and it just began to show the eye-catching shine. Just a few days ago, Zhanyi County has regarded the Colorful Cloud Cave as an important new scenic spot promoted before the beginning of the fourth session Pearl River Source Tourism Festival. Before you go there during the period when you learn Mandarin in the city of Kunming, you need to know the Colorful Could Cave is a natural dark cave located in the tail part of Huanshan Lake, about 30 kilometers away from 30 kilometers of the south of the county seat and 20 kilometers away from the Pearl River Source in the north.
The cave is as long as three kilometers with spacious cave body. The width and height is usually about 20 to 30 meters. The cave is divided into six different scenic spots by the stalactite naturally. The first hall is very spacious, mainly the stone curtain and stone waterfall. The second hall is made up of several layers with the shapes of bamboo shoots and ornamental columns. The third hall is characterized by the stone flower and stalactite just like straight paths cross the fields.
The fourth one is narrow and dark which looks terrible. The fifth one is also named as Snake Cave because the shapes of the stones just like many snakes of different sizes intertwine with each other. When stepping into the sixth cave, the students who study Chinese in Yunnan can see the stalactites are as densely covered as the trees in forest. However, it is still not the ending point of the Colorful Cloud Cave because it is waiting for further development. Another attracting thing is that the stones in the caves have a variety of colors such as red, white, yellow, black and purple and so on, making it more attractive.
