Yellow Crane Tower

The Yellow Crane Tower was famous at home and abroad. It was one of the Four Great Toweres in China which included Yueyang Tower in Hunan, Teng Wang Pavilion, Penglai Pagoda in Shandong. The Yellow Crane Tower was the first-place tower which had the greatest fame in China. It was located beside the shore of the Yangtze River, which helped to present the magnificence of the tower. It set against the Wuchang City and faced the grand Yangtze. Qingchuan pavilion with elegance and ancient styles was on the opposite side of the tower. It also lied on the intersection of the Yangtze River and the rail from Beijing to Guangzhou.

Some great poets like Li Bai, Bai Juyi, Cui Hao, Lu You and Zhang Juzheng who had visited Yellow Crane Tower where they created many meaningful poems that gained much attention and fame from the people all over China and the western countries as well. The ones who were interested in Chinese poems and had the chance to learn Chinese poems in universities might not surprised to find that the poem of Cui Hao described the elegance of the Yellow Crane Tower. The poem read that the old friends of the poet had left and the Yellow Crane Tower was still standing at the original place. The theme of the poem was to describe the dissatisfaction of the poet not being fulfilled the aspiration of the poet. The Yellow Crane Tower had won great fame because of the poem since then.

The Yellow Crane Tower was built from the period of the Three Kingdom. It underwent ruins and rebuilding through the years. The present Yellow Crane Tower was built in 1981 and resembled the Tongzhi Pavilion in Qing Dynasty. The location of the Yellow Crane Tower was still in the Snake Mountain. The height of the main building was 49 meters with five storeys. The tower was delicately designed. The design of the tower was like a crane ready to fly with its wings. There were many visitors visiting the place including visitors at home and abroad. Many visitors from abroad who were learning Mandarin expressed their praise to the elegant tower.

The relief on the walls of the tower revealed the myth and legend about the Yellow Crane Tower. There were poems carved on display on the third floor in the tower. The fifth floor was used for watch the beautiful scenery around the tower. Visitors would certainly have a great experience at the Yellow Crane Tower.
