Next week will be the most important Chinese festival in China – Spring Festival. The Chinese customs before the Spring Festival are cleaning the house, buying poetic couplet, and decorating our house. We use all red decorations and colorful flowers to make our house lookharmonious. As the Spring Festival is approaching, we have started to decorate Keats, to create a strong “Spring-Festival” environment at Keats.
We cleaned very corner at Keats, to make a brand new Keats for the year of 2014. We glued the paper cutting on the windows. Within the paper cutting, you will see a big Chinese character – 福(fu2), which means happiness and luckiness. Around the “福” are two big fish (鱼).Chinese people decipher the sound of fish (鱼) as the sound of affluence (余). Therefore, the visualization of fish is often seen in the decoration of Spring Festival, to foreshadow a prosperous year. We also hung two big red lanterns at the school gate, making the school entrance impressive. You will find the Chinese calligraphy works – “Spring (春)” and “Auspicious (吉祥) — of Master Xingyun in the common area of the school. Once you enter Keats, you will find that you are surrounded by the “Spring Festival” everywhere.
On Friday night, we invited all the students and teachers to enjoy a feast of Spring Festival. Gathering together and having dinner together during the Spring Festival are also important part of the festival. We will celebrate the lunar Chinese New Year together with our family and friends.
Keats School wishes you a wonderful Spring Festival and a successful year of 2014.
