It has been four weeks since the 2014 autumn semester started. Teachers have already got familiar with all students. Keats School resounded with reading, laughter and discussions of students every day.
There are many returning students at Keats School this semester. They still look forward to every new semester, although they have studied Chinese for more than two or three semesters and some of them even have studied for 5 semesters. One of returning student is an American. He has studied at Keats for 3 and half years and his Chinese is as fluent as Chinese people. Every time he met a new friend, the friend will ask him curiously: “Your Chinese is really good but why do you still learn Chinese in China?” He will answer: “I live in Kunming for more than 3 years and I am continuously studying Chinese in Keats School. When I came to Kunming, I can speak only a few Chinese. But one year ago, I studied in the advanced class and passed HSK 5. Learning Chinese has become a habit for me and it is an inseparable part of my daily life. I will persist in studying Chinese. To maintain the current Chinese proficiency is already a progress for me.” He also mentioned, even though he has studied in the advanced class for 3 semesters, the difference of each semester, the changing of teachers’ teaching methods, and updated learning materials make his Chinese language ability more like native day by day.
Other than our returning students, Keats School welcomes many new students from all over the world every semester. A Canadian student told us that he was so surprised that Keats teachers were so enthusiastic about their job. They went down stairs to pick him up, helped him get the information for renting a house, and quickly solved the visa issues. The help from Keats is so important and helpful for him to settle down in Kunming. Now he could focus on his study sooner than he expected. “Students in my class are very good and interesting. And my teacher is great. Not only the excellent teaching, she also helped us solve many problems in our life. I will definitely stay in Kunming for a while!” One Australian student also showed thankfulness to Keats School. He said he was so lucky to register at Keats because Keats helped him a lot. He didn’t know how to start a brand new life in China, like many other foreigners, when he just landed in Kunming, but Keats School offered him lots of suggestions to help him easily settle down.
We are glad know that our students enjoyed learning Chinese at Keats and we will try our best to provide the best Chinese teaching for them!
